Bearing in mind the current fuel prices, I rather expected to have to sit here some time this year with all this lot on, plus a woolly hat, muffler and mittens, but not till November at least, for Heaven's sake.
I too didn't expect it to feel this cold so quickly. Though the thermometer in the living-room reads 62 degrees F, and it's probably a couple of degrees warmer in here with the two computers running, it still feels ten degrees colder. I've put long johns on my shopping list, and I think I'll add some thick cord trousers too.
The fingerless gloves sound worth trying as well; I hope they will work for you. I've also got a hat with furry ear flaps, and some old blankets to wrap round my feet, so I'll be able to keep a bit more of the cold out when winter comes, and the indoor temperature drops to the low forties or so. There's not a lot I can do about getting a cold nose, though :-(
