I made an appointment with my doctor this morning, but the first one available is a week tomorrow.

That does seem like an awfully long time. I only usually have to wait a few days to see my doctor and she's only there three days a week (I think she has another surgery elsewhere).

I hope I shall be better by then and can cancel it.

I hope you'll be better by then too, but I wonder if it mightn't be a good idea to see your doc anyway so that she knows about the symptoms. She might have some tips on preventing it happening again at least.
