I had a phone call from the hospital yesterday asking me to go in for the "at rest" part of the myocardial perfusion tests. I'm going in on Wednesday.  At least I don't have to do without tea or coffee this time!

I've also had a letter from the RVI ophthalmologist asking me to make an appointment. I'd completely forgotten that they'd found further macular deterioration at my last diabetic review.  That's really cheered me up!

Not only that, but we have to take down our Christmas decorations this weekend as today is Twelfth Night!  I always hate doing that;  the house always looks so boring and dull without them, and our Christmas tree, which has been wonderful this year, is still going strong.  It seems such a shame to chuck it out when it's still flourishing.  We love to have the lights on in the evening when we sit in the sitting-room watching TV or reading by lamplight.

We still have Far Too Much junk food left, such as biscuits and chocolates, half a Christmas cake, a whole stollen cake.  I really must try to remember, when doing the Christmas shopping this year, that John can't eat chocolate any more because of his reflux problem.  Charles and I are doing our best to eat it all up, but I can hear the pounds going on.  Last night I felt so jaded that I made myself an enormous fruit salad for dinner.  It was lovely and I could feel it doing me good!

Charles is going to cook a chilli for tonight and I remembered to put the kidney beans in soak, so won't have to go shopping looking for them.  Tomorrow I'm going to cook the last of the Christmas goodies, a side of salmon to bake from the freezer with a herb crust.  I bought it from Aldi because there was no way I could do it myself at such a good price.

I think perhaps we should have a few home-made soups in the next couple of weeks.  It will be economical and healthy.

Look at the time!  I'm still in my nightie!  I think it's time I got up, roused everyone else and supervised The Mucking Out of The Yard, cooked the kidney beans ready for Charles to use and persuaded John to try to unblock one of the drains, again!  Then there's the jasmine from next door which tumbles over our wall and has had A Nasty Accident which means we have to bend double to get underneath it on the way to the wheely bin!!

Ah well!  Back to Real Life and the grindstone.  I love Christmas;  it just doesn't last long enough!
