I'm absolutely freezing here and have been all day, in spite of the late sunshine this afternoon.

I've been told off in another place for being a miserable old bugger, so now I really feel like one.  Originally I was feeling fairly cheerful but a bit miffed because the weather is so cold up here, but now I'm feeling really pissed off.

What a comfort a cat is when they sense you need a cuddle.  They're so warm and soft and affectionate;  they're uncritical and they make loud noises of satisfaction at your smallest attention.  So unlike humans.

And what's wrong with being a miserable old bugger? Tell them to get stuffed!

Cats may be uncritical and purr wildly at the slightest touch, but they'll have your hand off if they're feeling mardy. And you don't tend to find humans peeing on your bed or trying to escape through the window in the dead of night (unless you're really unlucky!).

It's strange, but so far none of these cats has peed in our beds or shoes or done anything so uncouth. (Touches wood, whistles, throws salt over left shoulder, hobbles round the room widdershins)

They do go in and out of my window at night when I have it open, which I do at the moment as it helps keep me cool and stops me coughing so much. They just sit on the window sill or the roof of the bay window, though.

Poor Morgan fell off the window sill a couple of days ago and I was a bit worried about him for a while because I thought he was walking oddly. He went very quiet for a few hours but then was back to normal. It hasn't put him off going out onto the window sill.

I think the only real downside about cats, apart from vets' fees and insurance is the way they wake me up careering through my room in the middle of the night spring-boarding off my bed and bouncing off walls and ceilings in a glorious game of tag.

Seconded.

Not that I think you're one anyway, but if you want to be, go for it! :-)

Spot was most affronted this morning because Rob had shorts on instead of trousers and so couldn't make a proper lap for him to sit on :-)

Bah! I'm looking forward to being a miserable old bugger. At least you have a stick you can poke people with Sis.

I'm planning to be as cantankerous as I can possibly get away with just like Stephanie Cole's character in Waiting for God.

Look out world!!!
