The thing I forgot to say about my poetry database is that I have made hyperlinks in it to all the individual poems, so I can call up any poem and print it.  It will make it a lot easier to find the poems I want for, say, a competition, or a reading or whatever, and will make trying to assemble a putative book that much easier,  if I can ever decide which poems should go together.

I really need a lesson on how to do this.  I can't decide whether I should have poems with a theme all together, or whether they should be mixed up with other stuff and separate.  I have absolutely no idea how people do this.

I suppose I could ask my published fiends, but if I do that they'll be forever asking me if I've got anywhere yet and it will be so embarrassing to have to keep saying "No"!!

I shall be able to print them all out now and keep them in a file in alphabetical order like a proper person.

Hurrah!

I've finished my poetry database and saved it, with the data files, to 2 DVDs, just to be on the safe side.

In the end I steeled myself to read the Microsoft Access "Help" files and was amazed to find that I could insert a path to the document into the database by using Drag and Drop. Who knew? I didn't. My tutor never taught me anything so useful.

I feel extremely pleased with myself now.

I simply have no idea where my pen for writing on CDs and DVDs has gone. I asked Charles if he had it, but apparently he wanted it himself recently and frisked my desk and desk drawers (he has permission for this), but was unable to find it. It must be the Borrowers again.

For once I've actually done everything I planned to do this week-end, except making a cake, which fell by the wayside when I discovered that "Beaches" was on TV yesterday afternoon. I may yet make it, though, the day is not over. In fact, I did more writing and editing than I had thought I would, so I feel quite pleased about that, too.

I must go downstairs and do the vegetables in a minute. The steak and kidney smells wonderful and is making me feel hungry.

It was really warm this afternoon, so much so that I was sitting here with the window open, but suddenly at about 4.00 pm, a very cold wind sprang up and I had to shut the window. Half an hour later I saw a concerned little pussy cat on the window sill wanting to come in. If it had been Phoebe who had got shut out, she would have been beside herself, but Morgan was just a little puzzled! I looked at him earlier, sitting in a large ornamental plant pot in the yard and I realised that he's a proper grown-up cat now, because he took up all the available space. He hasn't worked out how to get up on the shed roof yet, though, which is quite surprising, because I'm sure the leaps involved are well within his reach.

I have a free week apart from my course on Thursday - no doctor's, dentist's, podiatrist's or hospital appointments, no work appointments. Hurrah!

John and I have decided that we will go to the Metro Centre one day this week. I need a new cheapo handbag and a notebook (and now, apparently, a DVD/CD writing pen) and John wants to go to Waterstones.

I also want to start looking at printers. My Epson is getting increasingly unreliable and I think that when I've used up the ink cartridges I have for it, I should get a new one which uses individual ink cassettes, so that you can replace them one at a time. At the moment I have to insert each sheet separately because for some reason the blummin' thing grabs a whole wodge of paper and jams if there are more than a couple of sheets in the feeder. It's driving me nuts!  Most of the printers I've looked at on Amazon of the quality I expect to buy, are a great deal cheaper than this one was.  I imagine that that means that the ink costs as much as the printer now!

I can't put it off any longer.  The smell of the steak and kidney is driving me wild.
