Poor Morgan had to go for the snip today!!

Adrian-next-door was taking him because the people he got Morgan from had offered a very cheap deal, so I got him into the travel basket just at the time Adrian was due to arrive, but I should have known better by now.  Adrian didn't turn up for 40 minutes, by which time Morgan was wailing, beside himself with desperation to get out of the box and Bramble was hanging around anxiously wondering why the baby was in prison.

He was brought home at about 4.00 pm and was still a bit wobbly and sleepy but very hungry.  Charles and I had to get busy with cotton wool and warm water to clean his poor bloody white fur, and since then I've had him locked away in my room, because Bramble wanted to start straight away with the rough play and poor little Morgan was wailing in agony.  He actually went and hid in the corner under John's desk, but in the end I fished him out and brought him into my room, mainly because I was worried that he hadn't drunk anything since this morning.

I've got his water, his food and a tray of litter in my room for tonight and probably tomorrow he'll be OK to play again.  At the moment he's fast asleep on a towel on my bed with his "Teddy"

Morgan post-op with "Teddy"

Bramble has been wandering round disconsolately all day wondering where the baby was.  Now I'm having trouble keeping him away from the invalid.  He doesn't mean any harm, he just wants to play, but he's altogether too rough for the baby at the moment.

It's amazing how cats don't bear a grudge.  Morgan has been so sweetly cuddling up to me and purring like a diesel this evening that I feel really treacherous, although I know it's for the best really.

John didn't go on Boys' Night Out tonight as he's got a job taking something to London tomorrow, leaving at about 3.00 am.  and the client wasn't able to let him have it until 10.00 pm.  They don't want much do they?

I suppose that means I shall have to wrestle with the London Congestion Charge website again tomorrow.  Sigh!

Poor little chap. I hope he feels better soon. It's a pity they can't just give them the human-style snip, but unfortunately that wouldn't stop them spraying and fighting.

Crikey - that's a rough one indeed. Will he be able to get some sleep or rest before coming back?

He's having an enforced rest right now somewhere in North London while he waits for the RAC. He delivered the files OK but his engine has boiled over. Apparently some pipes have come adrift. He only collected the van back from the mechanic yesterday after having something done to the radiator, so it looks at present as though the mechanic may have been at fault.

Ouch. I hope that gets sorted out soon, and that it's chargeable back to the mechanic - it does rather sound as if the repair wasn't done properly.

Well, he's home now and it seems that the RAC man was able to fix it without any apparent damage, so we'll have to see what transpires.

Jihn's not very pleased, though.

He's absolutely back to normal now. He and Bramble have been skittering about playing for hours.

Good - it took a few days for the ginger kitten of some friends of ours to get over it. He grew into a big, strong and very assertive yet friendly cat, and lived for seventeen years.

Even the snip they have doesn't stop them all spraying.

G, I'm glad he's feeling better!

I've heard that it sometimes doesn't work - and now and then I've seen neutered cats do a sort of 'dry' spraying action. Come to think of it, about fifteen years ago the people next door used to have a neutered male (unfortunately he became a road casualty), and they warned us not to let him into our house, as he would sometimes wee inside.

Felix was a very anxious cat, for a variety of reasons, and he definitely sprayed. We bought a lockable cabinet for the video etc not to protect from YoungBloke but to make wiping up Felix's territorial marking easier...

Next door's puss was a bit twitchy - his sister even more so - but then both were from a rescue place so might have had a rough time beforehand.

Good scheme with the video kit. One of the reasons I don't have a cat is that I'd be worried that (s)he'd get hurt by some of the stuff we have around here.

Phoebe's a very nervous little cat. We got her from the cat and dog rescue place, and we think she may have been traumatised before we got her aged about 6 months.

It's also one of the reasons she isn't able to interact with the other two. She finds them fascinating and watches them all the time but doesn't ever want to join in and hisses and runs away if either of them get too close.

She doesn't like being picked up and cuddled, either, although she will sit on John's lap all day of her own accord and she would let me spend all day stroking her if I could.

They sent him home bloody?

None of ours have ever come back like that - wobbly from the anaesthetic yes, but not bloody. Poor little thing.

Glad to hear h's feeling better now. I doubt it'll slow him down much in the long run :-)

I know! I was a bit taken aback, but I think maybe they didn't know he;d started bleeding again, since he'd been bleeding on the blanket in the travel box but we didn't notice till we took him out.

Charles and I got rid of the worst of it last night, as I didn't want to run the risk of an infection, but I thought I should have to give him a proper wash today. However, by this morning he was all pristine and clean as if it had never happened, so he must have been industriously cleaning himself all night.

He's certainly back to normal today!

That bit concerned me as well, because I've never known a vet not to send an animal home cleaned up. Poor Morgan, but at least he's managed to clean himself up today. Give him a lovely cuddle from me please, and an extra handful of whatever he likes to nibble on.

Here's hoping he carries on getting back to normal - but minus the bat fetish.

Well. I'm not a vet, but I think if I were, I'd like to make sure my patients weren't leaking when I sent them home...

Still, no harm done, that's the main thing.
