Yes!  I have the hootering toothache again.

And, of course, it strikes, as usual, over the weekend!  At least this time it didn't wait till Christmas, which I half expected.

So tomorrow, when I have several other things to do, I shall have to hang around the surgery for hours waiting for an emergency appointment.  I'm pretty sure it's another abscess, and if I could buy anti-biotic over the counter, I could treat it myself without bothering the dentist for a week.  It would be great if I could just ring the dentist and say "I have another abscess, I'm taking anti-biotics, can I have an appointment in a week's time for you to sort it out?"

At least it hasn't got too severe yet and only hurts horribly when I try to eat, otherwise it's a very faint ache.  Fortunately Charles is cooking spag bol tonight, which will just sort of slide down!

So I'm feeling far too grumpy to write, which is what I planned to do today.  I suppose, instead, I'd better do the Christmas cards and labels which I meant to do yesterday.  I'd better look up that marvellous flour-free cake recipe which Penny gave me to make for his birthday on Wednesday.

I'm also feeling grumpy because Charles, who, poor chap, is sleeping even worse than usual, and only had an hour and a half''s sleep last night, is also grumpy and has gone back to bed till Heaven knows when, so won't be able to accompany John to get a Christmas tree.  If we don't get one soon, we'll be left with a runt again.

I mustn't be cross.  Yesterday evening he put my new 1GB RAM into Florence and she's speeded up considerably.  He's suggested that later on I get another 1 GB, since there's a spare slot, and then it will fly like the wind!  I have to say that starting the PC is now taking far less time, and applications, apart from Firefox have been loading much faster.  I think Firefox, which is loading faster than it was, but still takes a lot of time, has become a bit resource-heavy with all the add-on applications I have installed.  Not as bad as IE, though!

I keep thinking that I would like a new PC, but it's just technology-envy;  there's really no reason, since I don't use it for things that need hot-shot new video cards or anything and who wants to have to have Vista, anyway?.  Now that I've got the new RAM and can keep things like Firefox and Rough Draft and Solitaire going at the same time without slowing down enormously and NOD32 no longer stops Outlook loading for several minutes at start-up, I should be really happy.  I would love one of those tiny little cheapo notebooks to take to the Lit and Phil, though.

Oh well!  I'd better stop procrastinating, get dressed and get on with something or other.  At least it's still not cold, even if it is a horrid grey drizzly day!
